On Monday November 29th at approx 12:26PM, E2 along w/ E1, E4, QT3, SN82, & QT16 were dispatched to a reported trash compactor fire located to the rear of the Burlington Coat Factory at the Greenleaf at Cheltenham shopping center.

Upon arrival, Engine 2 went in service with 2x 1.75" lines; 1 towards the main body of fire at the compactor and another into the rear of the Burlington Coat Factory establishment. Crews worked extensively to isolate and extinguish the fire. Additionally, several efforts were made to separate the 30 yard high-volume waste dumpster from the compactor with the use of several rescue tools before a heavy duty tow truck was dispatched to finally displace the dumpster. This in turn facilitated access to the dumpster and allowed manpower to extract previously hard to reach burning material and complete fire extinguishment.

Additional efforts including but not limited to ventilation, water supply and overall provision of manpower were also undertaken thanks to several mutual aid companies on scene.

No injuries were sustained nor was there any fire extension into the building.
